If only we had time for all the books we'd like to read... In this section I've listed some of my favorite books and writers. The lists are constantly evolving, of course. See if there's something here that interests you, or a favorite we share. E-mail me if you have a recommendation for me.

What I'm Reading These Days
No Country For Old Men by Cormac McCarthy
If Cormac McCarthy used apostrophes and quotation marks like normal people, this would be a damn good crime novel. I guess it's leaving them out that wins you literary awards. Whatever this book is, it will keep you up at night and make you run the other way, fast, the next time you find a bag full of money. Only good writers can do that, whatever the genre.
Les Marins Perdus by Jean-Claude Izzo
Izzo wrote a great crime trilogy set in his native Marseille (see my Favorite Books). This is one of his lesser novels, about three sailors stranded on a derelict freighter in the port of Marseilles when the shipping company goes belly up. Men who choose to go to sea aren't always best suited to life on shore, and sundry misadventures ensue.
